First Look: Urban Continuity Kit

The Urban Continuity Kit and OSS Lockpick Set will be available Monday 7/15 at 3pm EST

The Black Triangle brand hasn’t offered any entry/escape tools in a couple of years and that is about to change. We emphasize preparedness for high-risk scenarios while maintaining a low profile, unlike a conspicuous, tactical assault approach.

I teased the idea of this kit almost four years ago on Instagram. While it took way longer to finalize than I'd care to admit, it has now come to fruition. I present to you, the Urban Continuity Kit.

Being equipped to respond to a number of different escape or entry scenarios while maintaining that reduced signature is what we are bringing to market. The Urban Continuity Kit offers four components:

  • OSS Lockpick Kit (details below)
  • Modified Smith & Wesson handcuff key
  • 8 feet of Technora 600 cordage
  • Vehicle window breaker consisting of a tungsten carbide bead on a shock cord bracelet.

The OSS Lockpick set, made by LockPick Tools, features picks for both single-pin picking and raking/scrubbing. The kit inside its vinyl holder measures in at 2.25" overall length and .5" wide. The thickness of each pick is .020". The slim profile of the hooks and quint "assists in attacking locks with higher paracentric keyways", per LockPick Tools. This OSS Kit has 5 tools and will also be sold as a separate item for those only interested in locksport. Here are the OSS Kit components:

  • Razor Saw
  • Gonzo Hook Round
  • Sawtooth City Rake
  • Bogota Quint
  • Short Hook Flat
  • Tensioner

Of all the components, the Window Breaker bracelet is the easiest concept to digest. We've uploaded a quick demo below on its application. A drawing and instructions are printed on the back of the card in the packing as well.

We made this kit both for the initiated and those who want to learn how to become better prepared for the unknown. Just like the idea behind our knives, you alone are responsible for your own safety and well-being. You don't need to be a spy or special operations to be able to get out of a dire situation. This kit is for everyone. Part of ownership is knowing the legality of these tools and to seek training on how to employ these tools. It is the sole responsibility of the end user to know the laws of the locale they live and operate in. One resource available is The Open Organisation Of Lockpickers (toool.us) map of lockpick laws.

Training on entry and escape can be found both online and in person. YouTube is a great resource on locksport to get you practicing. It is my personal opinion that training for restraint defeat should be done in person with a reputable instructor. Here are some entry and escape resources:

Training Resources:

Personally speaking, I have attended two Counter Custody courses with Ed Calderon (Ed's Manifesto) and can say that it has changed the way I think about escape. I strongly recommend it for those who want to level up their survivability.

Whether you are a novice at defeating unlawful restraints, or a seasoned escape artist, our Urban Continuity Kit gives you an exit strategy in some of the most common high-risk situations.
